言わずと知れた名作ダンス・クラシックスFrance Joli"Gonna Get Over You"を、オリジナルに忠実ながらも、UK R&Bらしい洗練された仕上がりでダンサブルにカバーしたオススメの一曲!!!
'96年に"On And On"という好シングルをリリースし、その一枚しかリリースされていない状況が何年も続いたものの、熱心なUK R&Bファンからは非常に高い評価を得ていたBeverlei Brownが、ようやく2001年に[Dome]レーベルよりリリースした1stアルバム「Next To You」からのカットとなった定番ダンス・クラシックスの傑作カバー!! アルバムに先行して国内プロモ盤が出回り、当初かなりの話題を得た曲ですが、コチラはその国内盤には収録されていなかったリミックスを2バージョン(A1./B1.)を追加して2002年にリリースされたUK正規盤!! DJ Komoriなどをはじめ、Mix CD収録でおなじみのオリジナルバージョンにあたるB2.が勿論最高ですが、歌も録り直したりと、哀愁感を増したメロディへと差し替えられたB1.、ヴォーカルにエフェクトをかけて「擬似ヴォコーダー使い」に仕立て、いかにも2000年以降のUK R&Bらしいキャッチーさを持ったA1.と、2つのリミックスの方も非常に良く出来ており、こちらもオススメです!! ちなみにUK Garage(2 Step)バージョンのみを収録したリミックス盤もありますが、コチラはR&Bバージョンを収録した方の盤となっています。 |
